Boomkat Product Review:
Killer, rolling machine funk minimalism from Pye Corner Audio in Head Technician mode for Alessio Natalizia's Ecstatic imprint.
'Zones' runs down six lean and kinky grooves sharing a taste for wormy acidic modulations and deft, unhurried drum machine sequencing pointed towards solo headphone skulks and late night absorption.
A-side strafes from the noirish tone and clipped patterns of 'Divergent' thru the early Irdial Discs-style oscillations of 'Exit Strategy' to a strung-out and possessed piece of analogue voodoo in the subtly proggy sci-fi vectors of 'A Future?'.
On the other side, the title track of 'Zones' takes a free-gliding night-flight over Michael Mann-esque cityscapes, to the super-cute, bubbling acid-house of 'Soar Door' and the curdling, AFXian harmonics of 'Echo Blooms'.
We're pretty sure you'll agree; this is one of the most compelling and immersive trips yet from the desk of Martin Jenkins.
