Boomkat Product Review:
Impressively complex debut from Montreal's hotly touted indie rock savants, Suuns. 'Zeroes QC' is located somewhere between post-punk, contemporary indie and pop music, combining the three with a supremely coherent vision. Blessed with the rare rock trait of restraint, the group manage to temper the angular, electronic-heavy arrangements of say, These New Puritans, with a colder, more mechanistic form of propulsion, without becoming a mere minimal rehash. Also compared to "Metronomy gone Radio 4 via dark Franz" by NME, they have a real mystery lurking behind their cryptic reference points taken from as far afield as dubstep in the lugubrious bass rhythms of 'Pie Ix' or skinny coldwave on the stoic pulses of 'Sweet Nothing'and even some kinda appreciation for seductive Afrobeat minimalism in 'Up Past the Nursery'.
