Boomkat Product Review:
My Disco are a fierce little proposition from Australia. They arrive at their Blast First Petite release after a handful of records over the last five years where they developed a stoically repetitive and driven take on post-punk disco. 'Young You' features three tracks of locked drum loops and near monotone riffage with incredibly tight arrangements. The spiky opener practically spits the titular refrain 'You' in your face over stomping floor toms and filthy guitars recorded by Steve Albini. 'Young' urns the guitars up a bit as the trio carve out a serious heads groove and finally there's a 'Young (Qua)' remix which fucks about with the panning and embellishes the Neu!-ish kraut-techno thread that's at the heart of the original. Wicked stuff, recommended to anyone who picked up the Factory Floor 10".
