Seriously sick gear here from one of the post-halfstep crew's most promising talents, Pangaea with a hugely anticipated 12" for his Hessle Audio imprint. All eyes and ears have been tuned into the steadily developed and skillfully curated Hessle Audio crew for some time now, with a respected presence online, on the airwaves and with a string of strong vinyl evidence to their name from TRG, Untold and Ramadanman. This is (perhaps) surprisingly only Panagea's second outing on wax, with his awesome 'Coiled' 12" from last year sending ripples of appreciation throughout the scene, with much love coming from everyone from T++ to Kode 9 and Blackdown. 'You and I' takes the rhythmic backbone of UK garage and inserts flexing steel rods of influence from the motorik mechanics of Berlin dub tech from T++ to Pole and adds the yearning emotion of Burial with the desolate northern melancholy of Pendle Coven for an affecting blend that's really found a spot in our hearts. Much the same can be said of 'Router' on the flip, another special slab of sliding rhythm syncopations and a velveteen sample dubbed to perfection that can really only be compared to the best work of Artwork, Burial or El-B for purely emotional dancefloor accomplishment. We couldn't reccomend this 12" any higher...
