Australian band Laura are one of the more notable instrumental rock bands around, mirroring Mogwai in terms of their ability to switch from meandering, mellifluous post-rock into fully fledged metal within a heartbeat. The individual performances are all highly praiseworthy, showing a great deal of technical accomplishment and a real smartness when it comes to interlocking as a band. Clocking in at under half-an-hour there's really not an ounce of fat on this excellent album - in fact you'll be cursing there isn't more on the disc, but it's all so finely balanced and sequenced you really wouldn't want to change anything. Highly recommended to all you post-rock fans looking for something with a little more bite.
