Boomkat Product Review:
Kanye makes a crater-like impression in the face of pop and hip-hop with the incredible 'Yeezus'. Adopting a new, noisy-ass electronic stance bolstered by production from HudMo, Arca, Daft Punk, Evian Christ, Gesaffelstein, Brodinski and TNGHT, among others, the omnipotent rapstar is unbending in his vision of a radical new sound to match an often vicious, preachy rhetoric dealing with his complex and tortuous relationship with money, women, race, fashion, corporations and family. If we're picking instant highlights, the virile, bellicose dancehall of 'I'm In It' shoots high and hits the mark square on, while Daft Punk's production on the bashy acid noise 'On Sight' makes for one of the most radged album openers we've heard in an age, and the blown-out glam swagger of 'Black Skinhead' is an alpha club killer. The spiralling, Zomby-esque bleeps and electro modes of 'Guilt Trip' is pure rugged futurism, and 'Send It Up' features some of the maddest electronic squeals this side of a Hecker record.
