Top shelf, computerised techno from tuuun, bolstering his FLUF label with its first shot of 2020, including a killer haul of warped (DJ))WATER)) remixes
Leading down their rabbit hole after 2019’s batch of fractious Mosca riddims, ‘XXXX’ presents the results of tuuun’s keen experiments with perceptions of meter and tempo in a banging rave context. His four ‘XX’ shots resemble EVOL’s Glues bangers to some extent, but with subtler focus on modulation of individual parts intended to mess with the listener/raver’s perceptions of time, texture and spatial depth, as good experimental techno should.
The originals are all straight up bangers, with strongest effect in the jabbing acid of ‘XX3’ and ‘XX4’, whilst the (DJ))WATER)) remixes rip tuuun a new earhole between the pebble-dashed dynamic of ‘XX1’, the NYZ-like drone penetration of ‘XX2’, and the eye-quivering digital distortion of ‘XX4’.
