XI versions of Black Noise
Pantha Du Prince's 'Black Noise' was one of the most refined Techno emissions of 2010. 'XI versions of Black Noise' collects brand new remixes from Moritz Von Oswald, Hieroglyphic Being, Animal Collective, Carsten Jost, Walls, and The Sight Below plus the previously released versions from Four Tet, Efdemin and Lawrence featured on the 'Stick To My Side' single. The venerable Von Oswald sets the template with a version of 'Welt Am Draht', gracefully diffusing dynamic stereo swirls of spectral vocals and low, low padded bass and brittle percussion. Takign the same track, Die Vögel end up with a very different result, arranging the horns with articulate Reichian phrasing and twisting the bottom end with to rubbery effect, whereas Animal Collective take the same piece and morph it into a lush, semi-religiose tribal dreamscape. To 'Satellite Sniper' Jamal Moss aka Hieroglyphic Being applies his VHS mirage effect to intuitively organised loops of the original, probably one of the best remixes we've copped from him. The other new material comes from The Sight Below, versioning 'A Nomad's Retreat' with his distended harmonics, and Walls, who close with a shimmering drone metamorphosis of 'Stick To My Side' making the best use of Noah Lennox aka Panda Bear's vocals.
