Boomkat Product Review:
Screwy avant-fonk from the highly eccentric Beckett & Taylor combo. If you're not familiar with these guys you may initially be a tad confused, but stick with it and you'll find some of the oddest future funk around. Their 'Wood For The Fire' cut is a skilled melange of live instrumentation and electronic studio trickery, blurring the lines between the two disciplines with an irreverantly skronky vibe that's one part Skweee cheek, two parts Matthew Herbert, and three bits short of a bob. Constantly fluctuating their style, 'Smash' see the duo on a proper old-skool Chicago house tip a la Armando with rubber funked basslines and a weirdly avant-sexiness, almost matched by the Spandex remix of 'Wood For The Fire' who add a shufting house bass and reorganised guitar refrain to make a odd little burst of flavours for your ears. Killer!!!
