Boomkat Product Review:
Steve Carr has been going since the mid-nineties and has racked up a discography of Merzbow proportions, but even back in '95 calling yourself Digital must have seemed a bit lame. Nonetheless Carr has acquired his fair share of plaudits as a jungle producer and has now fallen in line with the dubstep zeitgeist, laying down two tracks on this 12". The A-side, 'Wired' is loaded with biting sub-currents of bass damage, with the levels spending just enough time in the red to sound positively volcanic without ever resorting to outright mush. It's heavy stuff and a job well done. 'Rifle Riddim' lightens up a fair bit, easing off the saturation to reveal clacking percussion and excerpts of Eastern flavoured string plucks.
