Boomkat Product Review:
The un-pigeonhole-able post-rock/jazz 'tronica of Munich's Kammerflimmer Kollektief has ben floating freely around the musical universe since 1996, and on this latest album the band continue to explore the 'between' spaces of various genres. These five musicians use voice, harmonium, flute, synths, double bass, guitars, drums, piano, sax and xylophones to create their experimental, interdisciplinary blend. On Wilding you'll hear them segue from the noir-ish lounge lizard slide guitar intro of 'Move Right In' to the electroacoustic kraut-bop of 'Silver Chords' with an eerie fluidity, going on to lay down atmospherically charged abstract set pieces like 'Aum A Go-Go' (think Triosk or Dictaphone) and the star-gazing drone ballad 'Milte Hi Ankhen (aka Bird In Hand)'. An elusive yet commanding piece of work, Wilding is a great point of entry into the catalogue of this unique experimental group.
