Boomkat Product Review:
Charming three tracker from the hotly touted Teebs, dropping on Flylo's Brainfeeder imprint. In the weed addled waters of the LA beats scene Teebs tracks simply stand out from the crowd. He's got the hazy/blissed feel of Ras G and the astral shimmer of Flying Lotus firmly on lock, but it's his calm and textured approach that sets him apart here. 'Why Like This?' bumps off low-loaded MPC hits with heavy-lidded synth chords to put us in the mood, before 'Arthur's Birds' nters a more sparkling space, imbued with the kind of woozy compression techniques as Actress of NWAQ but with that endearingly nonchalant LA attitude. Lastly 'Bern Rhythm' deposits us somewhere more lush, amidst a tangle of tingling windchimes, reversed acoustic guitar loops and frayed bass hits, kinda like a less sober Bibio. Fans of Daedelus or Nobody's most laidback beats and Carlos Niño's more intimate moments will really find something to love here. Recommended.
