Boomkat Product Review:
Pilfering the seemingly anonymous, indiscriminate sounds of muzak, this second album from Finnish artist Anton Nikkila makes for an oddly addictive, if slightly unsettling blend of Negativland plunderphonics and industrial/digital noise treatments. Titles like '100 Years Of Soviet Cybernetics' add an air of sci-fi mystery to proceedings, bringing a certain air of futurist romance to the bonding of syrupy, shattered orchestral pieces with incisive 21st century electronics. Comparisons to Peter Rehberg's solo output wouldn't be entirely misplaced, and Nikkila is similarly disdainful of musical convention, rendering an album that's often too sweetly melodic to be strictly termed as a noise album, yet rather too ferocious and bizarre to be termed as anything else... Recommended.
