Boomkat Product Review:
The legend that is Thomas Fehlmann crawls back into the underground for this truly inspiring new 12” for Cologne’s Kompakt label. The A-side bliss of ‘Making it Whistle’ is a micro/drift/tech/house masterpiece, a flow of sound-washes and tight 4/4 jumps gives this track an edge that makes it sound much like the smoother end of releases on the Trapez label. ‘Gratis’ opens the flip with a dub cut, a jumping steppa in the Maurizio mould (minus space and echo) that’s been re-defined for the new century. The closing ‘Luftikus’ steals the show, however, with a bright glow of ambience that has its influence with the great Mike Ink and his Gas project. Gorgeous, floating, spacious stuff. Awesome.
