Boomkat Product Review:
Eminently watchable club label All Centre wind-up hyper, deeper, and grimier dembow mutations by blu-e and label boss DJ PItch
Now five years young, All Centre carry the flag for prism-pushing UK rave music porous to wider influence - as with the best British rave of the past 30+ years - with particularly strong influence from prevailing dembow currents.
Manchester/London’s blu-e sets it off with a reticulated tresillo sidewinder balanced between reggaeton-dancehall and halftime D&B, speckled with mercurial details and a wickedly weird breakdown on ‘When u Feel the Heat’, whereas ‘Essdee9’ amps the club drama with spiralling trance arps zipped into a sort of cyber-dembow-drill-jungle rush.
Label bossman DJ Pitch leads on from his Lynchian garage winner of 2022 with the whirring tresillo mechanism ‘Motorboat’, peppered with cumbia-like pipes and animated vocal sample for a playfully nutty UK spin on dembow, beside the grimier razz of his detuned, panel-beaten drums and psychedelic tweaks of ‘Agrippa’.
