Boomkat Product Review:
Earth House Hold is Brock Van Wey aka BVDub's "pure deep house project". Inspired by more than a decade's experience as a house DJ during its '80s/'90s heyday, Brock draws upon nostalgia for that era when he was DJing and promoting a PLUR policy almost nightly. The result is a deeply lush album balanced with a dreamy canniness that recalls DJ Sprinkles' faithful tribute to that very same era, a time when it was all about togetherness and positive futurism in the moment. His sounds understandably tend more to the ambient techno side of things, but the similarities with Terre Thaemlitz's project are striking, from the naked, grittily textured mastering job to the rich, bass heavy house rhythms and the slowly unfolding, MDMA-lathered atmospheres. It's dead nice.
