Boomkat Product Review:
However inaccurate a description it might turn out to be, prepare to be greeted by the word 'Balearic' in every review you read of this LP, because this is another one of those heavily chorused, jangletastic Swedish records on the Information label. Lynchpin of this scene D. Lissvik (of Studio fame) is on hand, here teaming up with Fredrik Lindson of The Embassy (a billing which makes him sound like someone Lissvik found working in a snooker club). This is a more explicitly song-oriented project than the Information label is generally involved in, as typified by the title track 'What Else?', which is more in line with the sort of material you'd expect from Peter, Bjorn & John. Only 'Cassette' comes close to hitting that Balearic stride, launching into some ultra-smooth, beach-bound '80s funk led by nylon-strung acoustic melodies, only mildly bringing to mind the theme song from the much-maligned, aborted BBC soap opera, Eldorado.
