Boomkat Product Review:
Grabbed from Lorn’s recent ‘Ask The Dust’ album ‘Weigh Me Down’ is a glitchy, bass heavy number that bears more than a little resemblance to ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’, and now it’s been bundled up with a grab bag of remixes. Ilum Sphere kicks things off with a James Blake-influenced lilting, jazzy version that strips Lorn’s original down to simple harmonic bliss. Elsewhere we’ve got Mike Slott, No Verse and Dolor dropping their re-interpretations, but it’s Mono/Poly who wins it for us with a truly bonkers, clattering rewire that manages to sound something like a car stereo stuck on two different channels while a ghetto blaster with a skipping CD plays in the trunk. Well odd, and all the better for it.
