Boomkat Product Review:
This album was penned by Daniel Greene from The Butterflies Of Love, who recruited a whole bunch of pals to form The Mountain Movers, a band who make their debut with this excellent full-length themed around the afterlife, God and The Devil. Beginning with a song about seeing The Devil on a bus, you'd think you were confronted with a Daniel Johnston album, but no, this is a far more level-headed collaborative affair, populated bybrass sections, strings and a whole host of hangers-on. The moving, piano-driven 'This Man Is Not Dead' is just magical, and finds the group settling down nicely after the all-out jauntiness of 'This Last Hope' and the old fashioned soul of 'Not Quite Yet'. The album retains a coherent, compelling sequence right up to its closer 'The Devil Always Wins', a slacker country rock song that caps off the album with a certain punch drunk swagger.
