AceMo's aiming for the top right? This one's a set of self-consciously floor filling NYC club belters that crib all the elements we know and love and assembles them into tight, prismatic new forms. Better than BOTA, yanno.
There's not much unexpected about 'Wanna Play House?', but by this point anyone checking into a club focused short-form drop from Adrian Mojica should know they're getting something for the feet. With each release he's refined his craft and nudged closer to the big room, and the title track here is his most dominating moment yet - a throbbing, sensual main stage house jammer with French touch chops, swung Chicago-centric beatbox loops and sultry Lil Louis vocals; the vocal version even adds a loose, disco nod that's energetic enough to cross over.
As usual we're more motivated by the lower key sizzlers: 'Back, With Another Banger' is a smirking rave reconstruxion that's Detroit via London and back to NYC; 'Heartfelt' is a moody breakbeat 'artmelt that abstracts itself over seven minutes, building into a synth crescendo that's guaranteed to win over any crowd; and 'Love, Acid' and 'Ace's House of Acid' time warp us into the late '80s for a few moments. 'Proud' is the one that's stuck in our teeth for the moment though, mixing blustery beats with prog house ascending synth bleeps that defy simply categorization. 'mo aces! (soz).
