Boomkat Product Review:
Wolfgang Voigt’s first release as Wassermann, W.I.R. (1999) bubbles up again in three live mixes as W.I.R. Schiessen (pretty sure there’s a joke in that title but it’s over our heads).
Also released by Profan, these versions are at once rooted in that label;’s original aesthetic, and fully up to date with their current styles, right on the edge of experimental techno proper.
Tubass1.1 (live) embarks from windswept brass into a flatulent, marching polka that sounds like some darkroom scene from Phantasia, and Stoa1.1 dries out to a sticky, minimal wiggle, saving the best for last with a live version of the original anthem, replete with vocoder and now soused in woozy live brass.
