Boomkat Product Review:
Ghedalia Tazartes finds two very capable foils in hyper-ambidextrous drummer Chris Corsano and all-round avant-garde lynchpin Dennis Tyfus during this live recording, made in the ballroom of Ghent’s Vooruit, 17th May, 2015.
Not for the first time working with Belgian artists - his excellent Reines D’Angleterre LPs were recorded with Brussells-based Èlg - you might possibly understand if we decline to give you a thorough description of what happens here, because, as Bryon Coley makes clear as mud in his liner notes, that it would only come off sounding like a really elaborate joke with no punchline.
However, if you’re familiar with Tazartes’ unearthly growls and the improvisational class and sonic range of Corsano or Tiefus (seriously fucking wide, to be frank), then you’ll have some idea of how far out they can go, and the kinda of psychedelic borders that make little odds to their shared sensibilities.
Best served with a good wine or whiskey from dusk onwards…
