Boomkat Product Review:
Machinefabriek visits Alien Transistor for two typically engrossing, unusually rhythmic electro-acoustic dérives. We're particularly drawn to his use of a charming Bontempi patter on 'Vergezichten 1' (Vergezichten meaning viewing or panorama in Dutch), providing a skeletal, stepping and metronomic bed for time-stretched saxophone and vocals from Espen Reinertsen and Mariska Baars. It's at once static and chugging, familiar and uncanny, perhaps best taken as a subtle commentary on our ambient ecology of electrical hum and air conditioning systems and their intangibly morphing, near imperceptible effect and ubiquity. There are connections to be made with the hauntological quality of Ghost Box and early Radiophonic exepriments, themselves intersecting with notions of EVP and spectrality, which are best manifested in the glossolalic drift and seeping, keening harmonic structures of the second part.
