Boomkat Product Review:
Featuring remixes from Prefuse 73, Kid 606 and Boom Bip!!! Amon brings a pleasantly surprising array of superstar eclectic remixing talent to this one off extra limited edition 12". All tackling 'Verbal' from his semi-recent 'Out From Out Where' album. Man of the mo' Scott Heron drops by first for a baad Prefuse rinse. Tougher in attitude to his new album, chunky beats fall into a familiar hip hop chime sample and chopped sonics so essential to a Prefuse attack. Supreme tune. Then boom, Kid 606 launches into his rightfully named 'Dancefloor Devastation' rework. After a building intro the Kid drops bastard hard breaks over Amon's original guitar licks. Less hardcore influenced as some Tigerbeat wreckage, this is actually quite poppy in the most dangerous sense., It would be a hard task to guess it's the Kid - a bastard offspring to classic early ravetastic Prodigy is a closer bet. The flipside starts with a relative newcomer and unknown artist Topo Gigio. This version brings on the atmospherics and samplidge vibrations for a fun party packed deep beat rocker with a slightly out of body sensation attached. Last up Lex/Mush all round genius producer Boom Bip continues the genre splicing wonder of 'Seed To Sun', blessing his version with chilled midtempo widescreen hip hop click beat flavourings. Deep bass, the same fuzzed guitar that ruled the roost on 'Roads Must Roll'' and nuff late night vibrations. Excellent remix package. Be quick, very limited.
