Boomkat Product Review:
Acid eccentric Legowelt aka Danny Wolfers returns to fry your mind with a 13 track album for Creme Organization. having now acheived what you could call a "cult" following, Danny Wolfers is the go-to guy for freaky darkside electro and acid from his base in Den Hague, northern Holland. 'Vatos Locos' sees him tinkering at his machines again, elliciting a properly darkside spirit from his many beat boxes and vintage analog synths with a truly authentic sound referencing both underground Chicago and Italian Disco styles alongside the influences from his peers like Unit Moebius and i-F. Tracks like the sweaty slo-jak piece 'Black Bass (Dirty Version)' could only come from Wolfers, as it's built with an intrinsic intuition and fluidity that marks all of his work. Equally so with the brilliant 'Guardians of the Ghetto', keeping the late 80's Chicago spirit alive with raw pumping rhythms and a mystically abstract melodic sensuality made for the darkest club spaces and rave bunkers. If you have any interest in the area of early Chicago house or Italo disco this is right up your alley.
