Cosimo Fiaschi - Nicolò Francesco Faraglia
Variazioni
Italian sax player Cosmio Fiaschi caps a breakthru solo year in duo with guitarist Nicolò Faraglia on a suite of elegant demonstrations of post-Weberian serialism turned into fluttering, minimalist chamber shapes.
“Over the past few years, we have focused our research on developing a syntax that incorporates the compositional elements of serialism into the improvisational experience. The duo began their investigation in 2020, initially establishing a shared improvisational practice, which later evolved into an autonomous language. In live performances, variations based on post-Webernian intervallic structures find their expression within the concert form. By contrast, in this recorded work, these improvisations are distilled into short pieces - miniatures - each marked by a distinct character, yet all derived from the same thematic element.”
