Boomkat Product Review:
Released on the caliginous Southern Lord and with an album called 'Vampire Circus', you're likely already half-way-there on deducing what Earthride sound like... Produced by Mike Dean (Corrosion of Conformity/Probot) and featuring members of Internal Void and Spirit Caravan), Earthride are not as quite as debased as you'd expect; taking their influences straight from the bottle, with a sound that resembles a Motorhead/Sabbath (their 'Volume 4' incarnation) coupling down in a dank basement. Very much a throw back to the tight jeans and heavy drinking of 1970's British Metal, Earthride are keen to stick the riffs up-front on sentry duty, whilst the driving rhythms and Strepsil vocals of Dave Sherman batter down the back-door. With a particular highlight coming in the dry-stone guitars of the title track, Earthride may not be subtle; but what they lack in élan, they more than make up for with brute, black-jeaned force. Rock!
