Boomkat Product Review:
Another winner from Lawrence English’s always-reliable Room40 label, this comes from label vet Asher, who takes us into a world of measured deep listening on ‘Untitled Landscapes 1’. This is the kind of album than on a cursory listen could evaporate into the world itself and become lost in the birdsong, engine hum and general rattle of everyday life, but give it the kind of attention it deserves and Asher’s reserved drones become something altogether more beautiful. Like the impeccable work of Eliane Radigue or Pauline Oliveros, this is slow moving music which requires a certain mindset, and once you let yourself sink in, there will be no wrenching free. Gorgeous, understated music, and something to be cherished in a time of maximalism and over exposure.
