Boomkat Product Review:
Arthur “Artwork” Smith’s lesser-known but killer tribal techno turns as Grain now available on digital formats, including the eternal zinger ‘B1’ and another hilarious, trolling phone-in
The last of his Grain turns ‘G4’ came out in 2002 and is probably best loved for the choppy ‘B1’ zinger, pivoting on a totally infectious angle between Latinate techno and UK garage with party-guaranteed results. The rest is none too shabby either, slamming out a frisky loops at 140bpm in ‘A1’ and Female-esque samba techno kinks in ‘B2’, along with him pretending to be a phone engineer and playing daft test tone melodies to some gullible mug holding his phone upside down upon request from your man Arthur. “Have you got rubber soled shoes on?” LOL.
