Boomkat Product Review
Superb 3rd instalment in Opal Tapes premiere batch coming from Kansas City's Huerco S. He's already set high standards with a killer debut 12" for Wicked Bass. We can thankfully say this release lives up to our imposed expectations, smoking up a mixed blend bifter of crumbled Deep House, crooked Techno and blunted electronics like some stoned and slightly autistic cousin to Actress, NWAQ or Kassem Mosse. Side A features three killers, ranging from the smudged, humid and erotic mud-groove of 'Press On (Ruff Dub)' to the pensile strings and asphyxiated jack of 'Elma (Ruff Dub)' thru the melted ambient boogie of 'Hiromis Theme', to a side-long 'Untitled' kosmiche experiment featuring somebody called Exael. Well recommended.
