Boomkat Product Review:
Texan electro-techno specialist Gerard Hanson (Convextion) gives up a clutch of deep E.R.P. cuts beloved from his live sets - some of the closest you’ll get to Drexciya beyond Stinson and Donald
Emotional punishment in e-f-f-e-c-t by E.R.P., shelling hard feels in four sparkling examples of his Detroit-orbiting electro tekkerz. Needing little introduction to lovers of the most romantic machine music, E.R.P. is the more Drexicyan alias of Gerard Hanson, whose recently reissued eponymous album is ranked among techno’s finest, bar none. On manoeuvres for Spain’s Apnea, they serve straight-up bullets between the lissom, gasping electro-funk and lip-smacking synth contours of ‘Lake Bachman’ and the fine-tuned mechanism of ‘Station Wagon’, taking in their stride some proper Other People Place worship in the pulsating arps and forlorn keys to ’Summer Springs’, and shine-eyed magic of ‘Myrtle’.
