Boomkat Product Review:
Hamburg’s deep minimalist Benjamin Brunn joins Sweden’s yung Blundar label with a delicate suite of glitching chord froth and padded subs recalling SND’s ‘Tenderlove’ and classic Vladislav Delay.
Finding a buoyant balance of mercurial rhythm and arcing harmonic structures, Brunn bends between featherlight house, garage and footwork-esque structures in his ambient dance style, all utilising a ruck of synths - tELHARMONIC, Music Thing Modular Chord Organ, Doepfer A-111-3V Precision VCO, 4ms STS, Yamaha DX7, Clavia Nord Modular G1 & G2 - to generate a subtly variegated range of textures and slinky rhythms. Anyone who has followed Brunn’s work since the early ’00s will be pleasantly surprised to hear his style fold, origami-like, across the album’s ten tracks.
