Fine album of svelte, surgically focussed techno-pop for the minimal set, courtesy of Sascha Funke and vocalist Julienne Dessagne (Sacha + Julienne = Saschienne, geddit?). This marks a long overdue return to Kompakt for Funke, whose last release on the label was his 1999 debut, 'Campus', and really the sound couldn't be more Kompakt - this stuff will melt seamlessly into Michael Mayer's sultry extended DJ sets. Unlike so many examples of techno producers trying to make pop albums mid-way into their careers, Funke gets the balance of stripped, floor-friendly groove and expressive songcraft exactly right, and it helps that Julienne's vocals are so silken and seductive. Very nice indeed.
