Boomkat Product Review:
Lack logs in to 2MR with a very necessary vinyl cut of his outstanding Undoing Gaze EP, originally issued on tape by Barcelona’s Angoisse label (home to Exoteric Continent a.o.).
This is one of those rare ambient techno anomalies that takes until at least a few tracks to figure out the right BPM or even what the fuck is happening, but once you’re in, it’s pretty amazing.
Sitting mid-air between Gas’s diaphanous pads, 154’s amorphous pulses and the nerviest, noise infected L.I.E.S. oddities; the A-side is an impeccable lesson in deferred gratification, keeping the ‘floor suspended in atemporal swirl above knotted subbass pulses in Polytrichacea, before the B-side clears the fug for a minute, revealing strange, clanking electro-acoustic drums hingeing on a staggered bass drum and swaddled in deep field ambience, kinda like something from Demdike Stare’s cabinet, and fading out to the plangent sirens calls of Reuni (Reshape).
