Boomkat Product Review:
The tropical/bass/garage nexus sends out some serious heat-waves from the hotly tipped Deadboy with his debut release on the Well Rounded imprint. Another product of London's neon glowing musical landscape, Deadboy's tracks have been picked up and well rinsed by those in the know, from Jackmaster to Ben UFO and anyone else with a clean set of ears. Obviously, it's easy to hear why, as lead cut 'U Cheated' sounds like Pearson Sound's 'Wad' given a luscious lick of R'n'B garage flavour, stuttering achingly fresh vox in the finest 2009 style over tough-but-kinky drums and club-steamed synthlines, while 'Heartbreaker' shifts emotive chord sequences over shaking Afro-synced percussion and 'Brock Lee Riddim' sounds like 2-Step Garage smudged with the impressionist touch of Theo Parrish and pitched with the narcotic intuition of DJ Screw. If you're feeling the new hypeR'n'Bass sound of Bok Bok, L-Vis, Joy Orbison or Shortstuff, this is a par. Big tip!
