Boomkat Product Review:
Finnish indie legends TV Resistori might just be the local equivalent of British twee-poppers Belle and Sebastian. There’s a similar lilting nonchalance, a familiar warming glow and a well-worn jangle to their music which could easily endear them to B&S fans, then again they sing in Finnish. Yep, regular Boomkat readers will likely already know that if you’re checking out something on Fonal label chances are that it’s gonna be in Finnish (a language that’s barely understood by anyone outside of a place where it’s cool to eat Reindeer with your vodka) and TV Resistori have resistori’d (apologies…) the temptation to sing in the more universal English. Despite not understanding a damned word of what they’re saying the record still has bags of charm and more personality than most indie rock from the rest of the world. The fact that the band have been working on the songs since 2006 really comes across, they are lean, well written pop gems and by the time you get a few tracks in you’ll likely be singing along, sort of. Lovely.
