Boomkat Product Review:
The ever unpredictable Meteosound label offers up three tracks from Ismael Pinkler, an young Argentinian producer with previous releases on Monika Enterprise and Shitkatapult. Pinkler's 'Trote' is the very strange A-side track, cut at 45rpm, but sounding like it requires a 78rpm turntable to play properly. This is a proper slo-mo oddity with a sloth-house rhythm given some pace by cosmic disco style arpeggiations but still sounding like the equivalent of those dreams where you feel like you're running into a massive headwind (or am I the only person to have dreams like that?). The flipside tracks 'Hielo Negro' and 'Pasito' both play normally at 45rpm, but begs the question, are these supposed to be 33rpm? Played at 45 they're two cool Berlin-esque minimal house cuts with an acute and unique sense of melody. Baffling beats.
