Boomkat Product Review:
As those of you who caught the recent 'Fledermaus Can't Get It' single will testify, this collaborative project between Mouse On Mars and The Fall's Mark E. Smith is a surprising creative success. It could easily have been a wayward, undisciplined affair that sounded like a Mouse On Mars album with a few snippets of Smith's demented poetry tacked on as an afterthought, but instead Von Sudenfed succeed in producing a very organic sounding collaboration. Smith raps a distorted vocal over the subwoofer-worrying tech-step of 'Flooded' and drawls his way across 'That Sound Wiped' with inebriated slacker aplomb. The most seamless meeting of the two parties very distinct musical preoccupations comes on 'The Rhinohead', which sounds almost as if it could have been an entry from The Fall's mid-nineties back-catalogue (back when they dipped their toes into electronics and programmed beats) given a slight, contemporary overhaul. Ace.
