Boomkat Product Review
One of the UK's most in-demand new producers drops a scorching 2nd single. Deeply informed by - and immersed in - UK dancefloor culture of the last 15 years - Garage, D&B, Techno, House - the S.L.O. sound knows exactly what pushes the right buttons for blighty's ravers. Here he does the classic UK thing with 'Trojan', twoc'ing liberal vibes from US Garage/House and augmenting them with radged D&B dynamics and armoured sound design to suit heavier, more visceral functions, while somehow retaining a stylish, soulful essence. And again, 'Pacific' ironically draws upon that Black Atlantic lineage that's so intrinsically woven into London's dancefloors, shackling hard-edged Afro-Latin polyrhythms and industrially insistent subbass pressure to a welting 4/4 pound, all leavened by soaring Motor City synths within his physically dominating sound design. Recommended.
