Boomkat Product Review:
The Human League’s classic 2nd album Travelogue was first issued in 1980 and has been unavailable on official wax anywhere since the late ‘80s.
It was also to be their last LP together in the same line-up that produced their seminal debut Reproduction as Martyn Ware and Ian Craig Marsh went on to form Heaven 17, leaving Phil Oakey and Philip Wright to pursue pure pops with their next classic Dare in 1983.
Sandwiched between two all-time classics Travelogue therefore marks out a stranger integer in THL’s catalogue, shy of any hit singles but with some highlights to be scored in the instrumental cold wave templates of Crow and a Baby and the ice-out slickness of Gordon’s Gin, or the updated version of Being Boiled from their debut single.
