Boomkat Product Review:
No messing about here, Alter Ego return with a very big bang indeed, 'Blasto' drops straight in with a fearsome 4/4 and flanging synths that in no time at all drops into clanging metallic percussion that's cut, dropped, and generally spannered about by the long term team of Roman Flugel and Jorn Elling Wutke. An alarm style noise enters the fray to do battle with the frantic synths already firing, this record just stands out from the legion of ordinary releases with the timing of its drops, utterly perfect, the beat lands just where you want it, and more importantly just how you want it. A morphing, banging killer. And there's more, the title track 'Transphormer' is a darker, seedier affair, squelchy synths create a wall of bass while percussive clonks combine with the 4/4 to force the beats onward. The single notes that make up the melody are modulated almost to the point of breaking, and the sounds are alien, the alter-ego way!
