Boomkat Product Review:
Richard Fearless teams up with Sasha Grey on his latest album under the Death In Vegas aegis.
Where previous LP Trans-Love Energies went with a vogue for downtempo and indie-rock inspirations, this one returns DIV’s roots in electro-clash and gloomier industrial-pop crossing between bedsit and dancefloor dimensions.
The production is predictably slick, yet perfused with geist-in-the-machine noise the creeps up like a head cold in the syrupy kosmiche of opener Metal Box to cast a miasmic feel across the whole thing, from Sasha’s first appearance in Consequences of Love thru her breathy presence in Arise and the pharmaceutical tang of You Disco I Freak, whilst elsewhere he touches on Ghost Box-worthy analogue nostalgia, and tweaky chuggers that recall moments of Trevor Jackson’s Format LP.
