Boomkat Product Review:
Imagine Diplo dropping acid with Raymond Scott in a Japanese amusement arcade and you're somewhere close to the mental sound of Baleine 3000. Consisting of three members hailing from Germany, France and Japan respectively, Baleine 3000 are the latest signings to the brilliantly eccentric Sonig imprint and have just released one of the funniest and stupidly funky EP's we've heard this year. Hardcore Sonig followers will probably know the work of Sun OK Papi K.O, the french third of B3000 and the crew's main producer, responsible for their frothy concoction of Miami Bass and Baltimore breaks with chiptune melodies and dubstep swing. Vocals come from Japanese MC Illreme and we're really not sure what DJ Afrojaws does but he's got a cool name. All silliness and abstraction aside, tracks like the Baile Funked 'Fa Na1' are wicked club tools making this a usefully odd little tool for the club or the bedroom. Class!
