Boomkat Product Review:
Previously seen on a split 10" with fellow Upset The Rhythm band The Sticks, this London quartet release their final album together with Tough Fun. Hands On Heads take a more modern stance than their aforementioned labelmates, channelling a poppy version of rhythmically complex post-punk that stands in a strange middle ground between founding fathers like XTC and more contemporary, sanitary guitar groups like Bloc Party or Good Shoes. The individual songs tend to be snappy, tangled up affairs that cram plenty of twists and turns into their two-or-so-minute durations. Tough Fun is immediate, entertaining and full of character, just don't get too attached - this is after all their swansong.
