Boomkat Product Review:
Breakage's James Boyle is obviously relishing producing at his new tempo of 140bpm, proved by killer recent releases for Digital Soundboy and Naked Lunch. Reappearing on Soundboy recs, he's upped his game with 'Together', reminding us of classic DMZ releases like 'Stuck' with all the focus on skull cracking snares and shuffling high hats to drive the rhythm and shifty bass weight undulations to smack your batty. This one's rude! 'Rain' on the flip is in the same vein as his 'Callahan' 12", creating moody late night atmospherics with field recordings and blue hued strings with a laidback rhythmic charge of subs and reverbed snares more on the Loefah tip than the flip's Coki or Mala styles. You know these upfront copies are gonna get snapped up in no time, so don't say we didn't warn you! Tip!
