Boomkat Product Review:
Anyone paying attention to the sets of Jamie Vex'd or Mary Anne Hobbs over the last few months will have probably come across a Falty DL track or two. The hotly tipped NYC based producer has developed a unique sound drawing on techy IDM, skipping garage and classic funk for his debut vinyl release on the celebrated Ramp Recordings, with title track 'To London' sounding like Mike Paradinas updated with a shot of melancholy garage medication, while 'Meta-Cognist' on the flip folds in disco strings, hypersped Burial vocal treatments and clipped percussion for a very intriguing fusion of styles. Our favourite has to be the succinct final cut 'Tom', a crafty joint made from snapping drum machines, swirling synthline psychedelics and a piercingly piquant melody proving why top ranking sound designers like Jamie Vex'd are feeling this fella. Fans of Mount Kimbie, Burial, Vex'd or Pangaea should give this a spin.
