Boomkat Product Review:
Sporting a line in electronic instruments that brings an entirely new range of meaning to the term lo-fi, Tickley Feather is the stage name of one-woman-band Annie Sachs, touring partner of Animal Collective and a songwriter in the classic Paw Tracks mold, sounding occasionally like a Casio-sponsored Ariel Pink. After a series of cobbled together build-up tracks Sachs gets her act together most convincingly on 'The Python', a tuneful cassette-bound mess of a song that somehow manages to charm you into submission. The occasional interruption from children's voices announcing various quasi-mystical statements is a little distracting but it all contributes towards the fractured, fragmented feel of the record. Hidden away in this twenty-track playlist are some great two-minute gems like the almost competently produced 'The Daylight', and the super upbeat 'Night Chant', all of which conspire to leave you with one of the most wholeheartedly enjoyable Paw Tracks releases in a good while.
