Boomkat Product Review:
Another instrumental post-rock group hit the scene then, and this one are louder than most, avoiding the painfully overdone peaks-and-troughs alternation still hammered out by so many of their peers. Saturation Point apparently originated after spending some time with the Tate Modern's collection of Mark Rothko's paintings - a source of inspiration for many a musical endeavour (Morton Feldman and Bernhard Gunter being notable contributors to the Rothko tribute sub-genre) - which in this instance makes about as much sense as Explosions In The Sky claiming to have taken influence from Robert Rauschenberg's White Paintings. 3 is an album that shifts from all-out wah-wah guitar madness to slightly more textured acoustic psychedelia, whilst taking in everything in between, always remaining faithful to the necessary melodic developments you'd associate with the more accessible examples of instrumental rock music.
