Boomkat Product Review:
313 ghetto-tech veteran DJ Godfather rinses thru 46 home city variants on his Databass label
The 1hr 52 min mix is testament to the style and tekkerz that Godfather has been instrumental in reppin’ both at home and abroad since the ‘90s. Variously known as ghetto-tech, bootybass, jit; it’s basically the rudest that Detroit has to offer, and a totemic parallel to Chicago styled repped by Dance Mania, often sharing artists such as DJ Deeon who have feet in both.
Last time we saw DJ Godfather was at Locked in Manchester around 15 years ago and this set throws us right back to that show, running thru pumping permutations of proper 313 hydraulics including collaborations with Goodmoney G100, King Saaidi, Gettoblaster & Missy, Lil Mz 313, Ricky Burns, JPE, Parkhouse and Dan Diamond all set to get the party started. DJs should keep an eye out for the full length versions due not he horizon.
