Boomkat Product Review:
With only two releases to speak of, Brooklyn's The Hundred In The Hands have made a quick but probably lasting impact with their moody summertime gothic sound. 'This Desert' is an accomplished 6-track follow-up to their signature track 'Dressed In Dresden', tracing elements of Cold Wave Pop fixations with a smoother taste for romantic, ethereal and gauzy atmospherics. 'Tom Tom' is a hazy imagining of Broadcast produced by Giorgio Moroder, mostly down to the singer's sweetly meek vocals, which mark the whole set with a distanced 4AD on the dancefloor look. One of our fave's, the post-punk shimmer of 'Sleepwalker' gives a glance of recent emissions from Zola Jesus, with all the exquisitely dark connotations that implies. Excellent.
